Motion Transfer Linkages
Managing forces and movement within machinery is a small but crucial element to machine design, which means the parts used to do this must be high-quality, robust, and well-designed. Dunlop catalogue ranges of linkages and linkage components are manufactured in the UK, and to the high quality our customers have come to expect from us.
We specialise in the supply of custom straight or bent formed rod-based linkages, ready to fit and quality guaranteed from end to end. Our linkage assemblies are all built and shipped loose as standard, so that you can make the final adjustments at the point of fitting. However, if you prefer, we can supply linkages to pre-determined fixed centres, using a length setting gouges and tooling at the point of manufacture.
Dunlop product range includes:
♦ Male rod end bearings ♦ Female rod end bearings
♦ Spherical plain bearings ♦ Housed spherical plain bearings
♦ Ball joints ♦ Clevis joints
♦ Linkages ♦ Ball studs ♦ Accessories
Dunlop standard catalogue products are available to order from our stock inventory, or we can customise parts to meet your own specific requirements.
MALE ROD ENDS
Male rod ends are used to absorb misalignment in a linkage, they can be found in an endless number of applications, are available with metric or imperial, right and left-handed male threads and bore sizes and threaded studs. Bearing liners include Bronze, maintenance required and Nylon, Polyurethane and PTFE offering maintenance free options, suitable for high precision motion transfer applications and extended life.
FEMALE ROD ENDS
Female rod ends are used to absorb misalignment in a linkage, they can be found in an endless number of applications, are available with metric or imperial, right and left-handed female threads and bore sizes and threaded studs. Bearing liners include Bronze, maintenance required and Nylon, Polyurethane and PTFE offering maintenance free options, suitable for high precision motion transfer applications and extended life.
SPHERICAL PLAIN BEARINGS
Spherical plain bearings similar in design to a rod end are pressed into a housing to absorb misalignment in an assembly, applications include the automotive, agricultural, industrial and medical sectors. Available in metric and imperial sizes, liners include Bronze, Nylon, Polyurethane and PTFE offering maintenance free options to suit light to heavy duty mechanical applications, requiring low friction and good wear resistance.
HOUSED SPHERICAL PLAIN BEARINGS
Available in a range of shapes and sizes housed spherical plain bearings comprise of a weldable steel housing pre-fitted with a GE-ES series spherical plain bearing, (threaded options are also available. Ball and race sliding surfaces are phosphated and can be relubricated as maintenance is required. Used extensively in light to heavy applications, typically agricultural and construction hydraulic applications.
BALL JOINTS
Ball joints are commonly used in applications requiring the transfer of motion. Ball joints are a flexible ball and socket that allows push and pull movement found in steering knuckles connected to control arms. Available in both metric and imperial thread sizes, a range of designs and a large selection of plating specifications are available. Materials include light-weight nylon, die cast zinc alloy, steel and stainless steel.
CLEVIS JOINTS
Clevis joints available in with both metric and imperial right- and left-handed threads and cross holes. They are also known as yoke or fork ends and are used to connect a rod to a mating component, secured using a clevis pin, clip or spring pin. Options of folding spring pins, along with standard clevis pins, are available to ease assembly of clevises with their mating parts increasing safety once assembled.
Linkages
As well as being supplied separately rod ends, ball joints and clevis joints are available as part of a rod-based motion transfer linkage, we specialise in the supply of custom straight or bent formed rod-based linkages. Major manufacturers of agricultural, construction and industrial equipment, depend on our resources for complete linkages, cost reduction and improved efficiency using our in-house design service.
BALL STUDS
Ball studs are ideal for assemblies that may require to be detached regularly or secured permanently, as they can be used for a wide range of applications. Ball studs are available in both metric or imperial, right or left-handed threads, threaded and riveting designs that can be attached to existing products or machinery. Ball stud range includes: hardened ball studs, burnished ball studs and hardened riveted ball studs.
ACCESSORIES
Accessories include rubber dust seals, (rubber boots) that are fitted over a rod end to inhibit the ingress of contaminates. Spacers are fitted inside that are pre-machined to the shaft diameter, all standard shaft sizes are available both metric and imperial giving extra protection when used in harsh environments. Nuts and washers also to suit rod end thread sizes are available to secure the components in place.
