Bearings
Modern bearings need to be manufactured to incredibly high tolerances, safety standards and quality levels in order to meet customer demands and expectations. We produce a range of ball and rolling bearings that meet those exacting standards while providing great value and cost efficiency for manufacturers. The differences between ball and roller bearings are considered in the calculation formula for manufacture, and we are always happy to help customers choose the right bearing to suit your application.
Dunlop product range includes:
♦ Single row ball bearings ♦ Angular contact ball bearings ♦ Self-aligning ball bearings ♦ Ball & roller thrust bearings ♦ Cylindrical roller bearings ♦ Tapered roller bearings ♦ Spherical roller bearings ♦ Housed bearing units (Cast) ♦ Housed bearing units (Pressed steel) ♦ Housed bearing inserts ♦ Adaptor & withdrawal sleeves ♦ Plain bearings
Dunlop standard catalogue products are available to order from our stock inventory, or we can customise parts to meet your own specific requirements.
Single row ball bearings
Single row deep groove ball bearings, commonly known as ‘popular metrics’, are rigid non-separable radial bearings and are by far the most popular bearing type. Used in a wide range of applications from agricultural equipment to printing machinery, they are designed to carry both axial and radial loads, are superior in speed rating to any other type of rolling element bearings.
Angular contact ball bearings
Single row angular contact ball bearings are rigid, non-separable radial bearings and are suitable for high-speed applications and can accommodate both radial and high axial forces, including combined loads and tilting moments. Angular contact ball bearings transfer the loads acting on the bearing at a certain angle, the so called ‘contact angle’ towards the shaft centre line.
Self-aligning ball bearings
Self-aligning ball bearings are non-separable double-row radial bearings, both rows of balls rotate, in parallel, within the spherical outer ring raceway, as a result, this allows an excellent alignment compensation, they are suitable for applications where considerable shaft misalignment is to be expected, with one of the lowest frictions of all rolling bearings they are capable of running cooler at higher temperatures.
Ball & roller thrust bearings
Thrust ball bearings are separable bearings designed to accommodate axial loads in single or double directions and may accommodate comparatively high axial loads, but they must not be exposed to radial forces. Thrust ball bearings are only suitable for low to medium operating speeds and do not compensate for any misalignment, separable and interchangeable components simplify mounting and dismounting.
Cylindrical roller bearings
Cylindrical roller bearings are single direction separable radial bearings, insensitive to shock loading and feature a much higher load carrying capacity compared to ball bearings. Available in many designs, to meet requirements of applications with high loads or high speeds, separable for easier mounting and dismounting and for maintenance inspections.
Tapered roller bearings
Single row tapered roller bearings are separable radial bearings, they consist of the inner ring with tapered rollers and cage assembly, (cone) and a loose outer ring (cup). They are only able to accept thrust loads in one direction so must be used in pairs where one bearing is adjusted against another, they are suitable for heavy combined radial and axial forces, but also accept combined loads.
Spherical roller bearings
Spherical roller bearings are a robust non-separable, double row radial bearing, both rows of barrel shaped rollers rotate in parallel, within the spherical outer ring, allowing excellent alignment compensation. Typical used for heavy machinery and mining applications, these bearings support a rotating shaft in the bore of the inner ring, which requires movement at an angle as well as rotationally.
Housed bearing units (Cast)
Bearing units are a pre-assembled selection of ready to mount plummer blocks, 2 & 4 bolt flanged and take-up units, cost-effective and consist of a bearing and cast iron housing with either grub screw shaft locking or an eccentric shaft locking collar. Bearing units have a self-aligning feature due to their spherical outer diameters within the bearing housing which allows for misalignment. Food quality stainless steel are also available.
Housed bearing units (Pressed steel)
Bearing units are a pre-assembled selection of ready to mount plummer blocks, 2 & 3 bolt flanged bearing units, cost-effective and consist of a bearing and pressed steel housing with either grub screw shaft locking or an eccentric shaft locking collar. Bearing units have a self-aligning feature due to their spherical outer diameters within the bearing housing which allows for misalignment.
Housed bearing Inserts
Easy to mount bearings having a convex outer ring which enables static misalignment within a range of various housings and provides long service life in a wide variety of applications, replacement bearing inserts for housed bearing units allow varying shaft sizes to be accommodated and interchanged. Locked onto its mating shaft by either grub screw shaft locking or an eccentric shaft locking collar.
Adaptor & withdrawal sleeves
Adapter and withdrawal sleeves are easy-to-install devices used for the mounting and dismounting of rolling element bearings with tapered bores to cylindrical shafts in a simple and effective way for a variety of applications. Since adaptor and withdrawal sleeves are able to adapt to shaft diameter variations within certain limits, larger than normal shaft diameter tolerances are accommodated.
Plain bearings
Plain bearings are the least expensive type of bearing, they comprise of a bearing surface with no rolling element and are lightweight, compact and have a high load capacity, which can be used in a wide range of applications, they have a very good wear and friction performance over a wide range of loads, speeds and temperature conditions. Suitable applications include: lifting equipment, textile machinery and agricultural equipment.
